Episode 46 Alas Ketonggo |
This is a record of site visit to Alas Ketonggo
on January 20, 2008 Sunday with my friend
in Madiun. Alas Ketonggo is located at 17
kilometers south-west from Ngawi Town. I met tens of people who mediated and gave worship to the Dewa and Dewi. The first president Sukarno also visited this place for meditation to obtain super power. It stresses that the Javanese peple still live in their culture named KEJAWEN as I reported in this website, even though they call themseves as Muslim. Kejawen itself is deeply influenced by Mahayana of Buddhism. |

A vihara for meditation at a few hundred meter upstream from the old fountain |
Just in fron of the vihara, there is a fountain named Sendang Derajat |

Entrance of Cave of Sidodabibagus |
Inside of Cave: Floor paved by concrete |
I tried many times to take photos inside of cave, but failed. |
I failed to measure coordinate at river
side and the cave, since the magnetic was
quite week due to topographic shape of land
and many teak wood. There is a kiosk at the riverside and we can take a rest and drinks and snacks there. Here is not a sight seeing spot but a meditation spot, then the price of food and drinks at the kiosk is rather cheap. |
